What is a Colonic?
What is a Colonic
A Colonic is the infusion of water into the colon to clean and flush out the colon of toxins, undigested waste and other matter. It is known as colon hydrotherapy, colon irrigation or simply a colonic. It is well known that a surprisingly large percent of the population is dehydrated, this coupled with emotional and physical stress can cause all sorts of havoc in the colon. A dehydrated colon is unable to perform properly which causes the inability to absorb nutrients, harmful bacteria and yeast can grow and idle toxins can be absorbed into the bloodstream through the colon wall (known as autointoxication). Worse, this problems are amplified by the typical American diet of wheat, dairy, sugar and red meat. Currently, colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
A colonic seeks to reverse these problems and provide life giving hydrating and cleansing to the colon. By flushing the colon with warm, clean water toxins and waste can be flushed out of the body and support the colon in operating properly. One of the early proponents of colonics was Harvey Kellogg, M.D., who ran a popular health-oriented retreat center and creator of Corn Flakes cereal. He often gave lectures about the health benefits of colonics and their ability to treat a variety of conditions such as depression and arthritis.
